This award established in 2024 is to recognize an outstanding Junior Firefighter that is a
member of a fire company belonging to the Cambria County Regional Firefighter’s Association. The
fire company submitting the nomination must be in good standing in the Cambria County Regional
Firefighters’ Association. The Association will purchase a plaque that will have a name plate of each
year’s recipient. The name plate will list the recipient’s name, fire department, and year the award
was won. Each recipient will receive their own plaque for their keeping along with $100.00 cash prize.
In addition, the recipient will receive a one year’s membership paid for by the Association from the
convention the award was presented until the following July 1. If a department pays for the
recipient’s dues, then said department will be credited. The award will be presented annually at the
Convention’s Award Ceremonies. An individual may only receive this award once. All nominees will
receive a Certificate of Commendation.
Rules for entry of the Junior Firefighter Award
1. A nominee must have served at least one year in his/her fire organization.
2. A Fire Company/Department can only nominate one Junior from its organization each year.
3. The Chief Officer may submit a nominee at age 15 but the nominee must not reach the
age of 18 at the time of the Association convention. The nominee must be in good
standing with their fire department. The nominating organization must also be in good
standing of the Cambria County Regional Firefighters’ Association.
4. The Chief Officer of the fire organization must submit the name of the nominee along with
a brief background narrative stating when he/she joined, training activities, organizational
activities, individual activities, that he/she participates, leadership qualities, and character
that would make this individual worthy of this award.
5. A letter of recommendation from a school official (Teacher, Counselor, or Principal)
commenting on the nominee’s character and provide a list of extracurricular activities that
the nominee participates.
6. The nomination should also include the following: the full name, home address, date of
birth, phone number and e-mail address of the nominee.
7. The period covering this nomination shall be from July 1 of the preceding year to June 30
of the current year.
8. Deadline for Entry must be postmarked July 1.
9. The Association’s Awards’ Committee shall be responsible for collecting the nominations
and verifying nominees’ eligibility. Once eligibility is determined, those nominations will
be turned over to a neutral group and will be selected by a neutral group like Central
District. No member of the Association or a member that belongs to an Association Fire Company/Department can be a part of the of the neutral group.
