CCRFA Awards

Each year, the Cambria County Regional Firefighters Association (CCRFA) proudly recognizes the outstanding courage, dedication, and teamwork of our fire service community. Nominations are now open for the following awards:

Valor Award

Awarded to an individual who has gone above and beyond to save a life while placing themselves at great personal risk. This prestigious honor is presented at the annual CCRFA Convention Meeting.

Life Saving Award

Presented to a firefighter who has taken decisive and life-saving action. This award also takes place during the annual Convention Meeting.

Unit Citation Award

Introduced in 2022, this award honors a fire company unit for outstanding performance during an emergency. It is presented to a team of two or more members who responded collectively and performed exceptionally.

  • Please include any supporting documentation such as newspaper articles or official reports to verify the incident.

Fallen Firefighter

Started in 1996 by Patton Beverage with the approval of the Association awarded to the best overall fire department that participates in the Association’s Convention Parade. A fire company is only eligible for this award once in five years.

Recipient(s) are decided at our Annual Convention.

Grand Champion

This award is given to the fire company that accumulates the most points during the competition at the convention as well as other sponsored Association activities during the year. It was started in 1987.

Recipient(s) are decided at our Annual Convention.

Jack Fry Trophy

This trophy was started by the Cresson Fire Company in 1988. This trophy is awarded to the fire company that takes first place in the Battle of the Barrel at the convention.

Recipient(s) are decided at our Annual Convention.

President’s Award

This award was started by the association in 2017 to be given to a person who has made a significant contribution to the association or to the fire school. A person can only receive this once every five years. This award is presented at the convention meeting.

Robert F. McCaa Trophy

This trophy was started by the Gallitzin Fire Company in 2012 for the fire company that took first place in the pumping contest at the convention.

Recipient(s) are decided at our Annual Convention.

Skip Cook Trophy

This trophy was started in 2022 by the Nanty Glo Fire Company to be awarded to the fire company with the best marching unit at the convention parade.

Recipient(s) are decided at our Annual Convention.

Steve Unger Bucket Brigade

This trophy was started by the Conemaugh Fire Company in 2022 to be given to the fire company that takes first place in the bucket brigade contest at the convention.

Recipient(s) are decided at our Annual Convention.

Tibbott Trophy

This trophy was started in 1989 by the Hope Fire Company to be awarded by the decision of the host fire company to the fire company who demonstrates a positive spirit of competitive fun while participating in most events during the convention.

Awards with the June Association Meeting Deadline

Life Saving Award

This award is given to a person who has taken action to save a life. This award is presented at the convention meeting.

Recipient(s) must submit their application before the June Association meeting.

Unit Citation Award

This award was started in 2022 to recognize a fire company unit that performs an outstanding act at an emergency scene by a team of two or more members responding as a company.

Recipient(s) must submit their application before the June Association meeting.

Valor Award

This award started in 2021 and is presented at the annual convention. It is given annually to one student pursuing a 4-year degree and one student pursuing a 2-year degree. Eligible students must be members or have parents or grandparents who are members.

Recipient(s) must submit their application before the June Association meeting.

Award that Needs to be Handed In

Cliff Cherico Award

This award was started by Gallitzin Fire Company in 2018 and is to be awarded to the fire company that is selected to have the best fire prevention entry.

Recipient(s) must physically hand in their application at the June Association Meeting.
