CERTIFICATIONS

2026 FIREFIGHTER I TESTING 

  • There is one OPEN TEST DATE before the Firefighter I test changes on July 1st.
  • There is no designated test date for those who participated in our 2026 Essentials Class.
  • The test dates are : June 12th (Written) and June 13th (Skills) .

2026 FIREFIGHTER II TESTING 

  • At this time there is ONE OPEN TEST DATE FOR Firefighter II
  • The test dates are : June 12th (Written) and June 14th (Skills) .

HMO CERTIFICATION TESTING 

  • The HMO TEST FOR MAY 2026 HAS BEEN CANCELLED.

ADDTIONAL INFORMATION FROM THE CERTIFICATIONS COMMITTEE

Everybody has to register via Acadis and all students must have a FEMA SSID number.   Registering doesn’t mean you don’t have to complete the applications.  You must still complete the application.
 
Cost is $230 (CCRFA MEMBER) — $240 (NON CCRFA MEMBER) per application. Payment is due with the application. Deadline for completed applications to RJ Wilson or Tom Pringle is 21 days prior to the written exam.  There are no exceptions. This will allow ample time to have incomplete applications returned and corrected.  No new applications will be accepted after the deadline.  Students must have their HMO or HMOR within 12 months of the written test date, no exceptions.  Students must have their CPR with First Aid from the list of approved agencies.
 
Pennsylvania State Fire Academy (PSFA) approved CPR and First Aid courses must meet specific criteria set by the Pennsylvania Office of the State Fire Commissioner (OSFC) and the Pennsylvania Department of Health.  These courses are required for firefighter certification, including Firefighter I.

American Heart Association (AHA): BLS or BLS Provider, BLS for Healthcare Providers
American Red Cross: Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers, CPR-AED for Healthcare Providers, CPR-AED for Professional Rescuers
American Safety & Health Institute (ASHI): BLS Healthcare
National Safety Council (NSC): Basic Life Support for Healthcare and Professional Rescuers
American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons: Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider CPR (Professional)
EMS Safety Services, Inc.: BLS for Healthcare Providers
PRO CPR LLC (Pro Training LLC): Healthcare Provider (BLS) Adult Child and Infant CPR/AED (Pro CPR), or with First Aid (Pro First Aid Advanced)
PACIFIC Medical Training: Basic Life Support: AED, First Aid, CPR – C Provider
 
Approved First Aid Courses:
American Red Cross: Emergency Medical Response, First Aid
American Safety & Health Institute (ASHI): Emergency Medical Response, First Aid/Adult First Aid
National Ski Patrol: Outdoor Emergency Care
National Safety Council (NSC): First Aid Training, Advanced First Aid and Basic Life Support
American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons: Standard First Aid, Emergency Medical Responder
Pennsylvania Department of Health: Emergency Medical Responder, Emergency Medical Technician, Advanced Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic, Pre-Hospital Registered Nurse, Pre-Hospital Physician Extender, Pre-Hospital Physician
 
Key Requirements:
CPR courses must include Adult, Child, and Infant CPR.
First Aid courses must include bleeding control, shock management, and infection control.
All certifications must be current and valid at the time of testing.
Copies of certificates must include both front and back, and must be signed by the candidate.
E-cards must have a clear, interpretable QR code or barcode.
Digital signatures are not accepted; a “wet signature” (pen on paper) is required on applications.
